First, I will give my sincerest thanks to our wonderful Savior who continue to give us strength and still allowed us to gain this opportunity to celebrate another Christmas and add another year into our lives. To God Be the Glor
Second, let me thank my family—my loving husband, my kids, my loving apos—for always being at my side through thick and thin.
Third, my friends, relatives, and the everyday people I meet for I know, one way or the other, we continue to affect each other’s lives… and I hope it’s for the best, of course.
Fourth, my Harborscope family starting from management to my editorial people who continue to work hard just to keep this paper kicking. I also would like to thank all the past editors, writers and contributors of this paper for without you I don’t think this paper will reach this far.
Lastly, but of course, not the least, my advertisers… You are the lifeblood of this paper. I owe almost everything to you. Please do accept my sincerest thanks. You are second to God in my heart. I am praying that the good Lord continue to bless you and let us joined hands to expect an even brighter 2011 for all of us.
Since it is the season of giving and hope, I wish that maritime stakeholders will also learn how to give instead of only thinking of their own welfare.
The industry is under the microscope right now with the different problems it face and there is no room for conflicts since we have only one dream, that is to have a very developed and vibrant maritime industry.
With the coming New Year, I wish that all sectors starting from Government—CHED, PRC, MTC, TESDA, DOLE, among others, the private sector such as TC, Maritime Schools, shipping lines, etc and the maritime people such as ship agents, mariners, port users, importers, exporters and the likes—will learn how to give and take, develop some sort of a symbiotic relationship, rather than engaging in mudslinging, bickering, character assassination, to work harmoniously, put the welfare of the country and its people first than their personal glory.
We owe the future of the maritime industry not to ourselves anymore but to our children, the next generation. We must put into place the right things just like what those who came before us did. Let us put no more damage to the industry and instead focus our full attention and energy to the development of our only industry.
Again, let me greet you a very merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year!
Full steam ahead…
