Empowering Maritime Entrepreneurs

POSH prefers Filipino seafarers

Posh Fleet Services Pte. Ltd. continues to prefer Philippines as its main source of seafarers as the country continues to recover from the global financial crisis.

The company said Filipinos remain as the seafarers of choice due to the many advantages it offer to the global maritime fleet such as English proficiency, hard work, competitiveness, among others.

In an interview at their recent seminar held at Traders Hotel early December, company director Lim Tau Kok said they want to grow along with the world as it recovers from the effects of the global financial crisis.

Lim said global businesses right now are posting modest margins compared to last year suggesting that a full-blown global recovery is in the offing.

“The growth prospects for the company are very promising especially now that global shipping is on its way to full recovery,” Lim said.

“Posh is gearing itself to capitalize on the business windfall that the development is expected to generate in the coming months,” Lim said.

“We want our seafarers to be consistently competitive and be prepared for this growth scenario,” Lim added.

As of the moment, Posh together with its local agent SSM Maritime Services, Inc.—owned by C/E Antonino R. Gascon, Jr.—has lined-up at least three seminars again for 2011 in its bid to further improve the capabilities and advantages of their crew onboard their ships.

The seminars are also designed to further enhance the camaraderie not only between Posh and its seafarers but also to the families of the seafarers as it serves as a venue to air their appreciations, apprehensions, among others.

In the next couple of years, Posh is planning to also increase the number of cadets they support annually from the current 50 cadets.

The Philippines, on the other hand, is making all the necessary measures to further improve the capabilities of its seafarers in order to maintain its advantages over other nationalities and remain as the world’s seafarer of choice. ?
